What is the Buy-Side Advisory ?
There are two types of take-overs: offensive and defensive.
An offensive take-over is a strategy which aims to acquire a specific company to widen your own company’s portfolio, to conquer new market shares, to accelerate geographical footprints or to reach a new range of product positioning. Those strategies create value because companies operating them are stronger when facing market whims.
A defensive acquisition is an enterprise strategy which consists in conducting an acquisition policy of usually modest size companies operating in the same sector. Through those acquisitions, the company aims to protect itself from competitor’s takeovers by reaching a critical size on a target market. Those strategies can also allow pure player emergence, considered as references in their area of business; their commercial appeal is increased, and so is its value.
